Every Easter, Bequia holds a major sailing regatta, with races around the island. This is the one time of year you could say Bequia is rowdy! Please click for details of the next Easter Regatta.
Bequia has a thriving arts and crafts industry. The oldest is model boat making, derived from the days when Bequia’s sailors and fisherman built all their own boats by hand. But there are also artists’ studios and a fine pottery. For all the relevant contact details, see Arts and Crafts on Bequia.
Bequia has plenty of restaurants, in a variety of styles. See: Bequia Restaurants.
The Friendship Rose, an original wooden sailing ship built on the beach on Bequia, makes regular trips to beautiful Tobago Cays and to Mustique: The Friendship Rose. There are other companies too, but we haven’t tried them yet.
You’ll find live music somewhere on Bequia most nights during the season: check Bequia This Week for details. And there’s also the annual Bequia Music Fest held in January. See Bequia Music Fest for details of the next one.
Orton “Brother” King, a native skin-diving fisherman, has dedicated 12 years to saving the hawksbill turtle from extinction. See how he does it, at the Old Hegg Turtle Sanctuary on Park Beach.
